FAO Coordinator Attends Livestock Forum in Cuba

FAO''s Sub regional Coordinator for Mesoamerica, Tito Diaz, is participating in a workshop here today about the improvement of livestock resources, attended by representatives of 12 countries, among them Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba , Spain and Mexico.
 
This meeting is being held parallel to the 5th International Congress of Animal Improvement, opened yesterday in the presence of 210 specialists -including 60 expects of more than 20 nations-, according to a note of the Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Cuba.
 

Cuba, UNICEF Improve Breastfeeding

The United Nations Children''s Fund (UNICEF) and the Cuban government will continue their efforts to encourage the exclusive use of breastfeeding, its head in Havana, Anna Lucia D''Emilio, said today.
 
D'Emilio said the country has the conditions to ensure that nutrition to newborn babies, due to the legal guarantees for the mothers and the implementation of non-commercial medical policies.

Engage Cuba Welcomes Obama''s Decision on Cuba

The US organization Engage Cuba welcomed today the decision of President Barack Obama to remove some restrictions that modify sanctions against Cuba, while maintaining the main body of the economic, commercial and financial blockade.
 
According to a statement, the organization addressed the actions of the US departments of Treasury and Commerce to modify the Cuban Assets Control Regulations and export laws, which will expand significantly the access to the island through educational trips and safer trade policies.

UNESCO Opens Exhibition of Cuba Contemporary Art

An exhibition of contemporary Cuban art, which brings together the work of 16 artists, was inaugurated today at the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris.
 
The exhibition, entitled Signs of Cuba: Women's Proposals expects to preserve the diverse and multiple, the convergence of various artistic languages, the uniqueness of contemporary Cuban art from various formal and conceptual approaches, expressed Lisandra Isabel García, curator of the exhibition.

Prayer in Namibia Asks for End to the Blockade

A prayer celebrated by the Anglican Church of Namibia requested that the US government end the blockade against Cuba.
 
This day was part of the Women's World Day of Prayer in all Anglican churches in the country, with messages in English, Afrikaans and the native language, oshivambo.
 
The event took place in the Cathedral of Windhoek, with the altar being decorated with Cuban fruits and the colors of the Cuban flag, also sported by the attendees on their clothes.
