An exhibition of contemporary Cuban art, which brings together the work of 16 artists, was inaugurated today at the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris.
 
The exhibition, entitled Signs of Cuba: Women's Proposals expects to preserve the diverse and multiple, the convergence of various artistic languages, the uniqueness of contemporary Cuban art from various formal and conceptual approaches, expressed Lisandra Isabel García, curator of the exhibition.
 
The interest in having women artists is not intended to deploy a single feminist viewpoint, she pointed out.
 
Garcia stressed that the selection of works wants to present a kind of generational pan -creators born between 1949-1991- that praise the plurality of poets and give the audience an image of what Cuban women produce in Cuba today, in artistic terms.
 
The ambassador of the Caribbean nation to Unesco, Dulce Maria Buergo, said that the exhibition "allows us to share a message of gender equality, empowerment of women, deeply in tune with the international debate of the sustainable development agenda, which include within its basic pillars the priority of women's right.
