Belgian Ambassador Thanks Cuba''s Solidarity after Terrorist Attacks

Belgian ambassador, Patrick Van Gheel, thanked the Cuban government and people for their solidarity with his country after the terrorist attacks on Tuesday Mar 22nd, which he described as a sad day for the nation.
 
In a message from the Belgium embassy he said, referring to the pain caused by the explosions that killed 36 people and wounded 270, that "international solidarity offers us the best relief in this difficult moment."
 
"We know that the Cuban people are always with us," the statement continues.
 

Cuba has Supplied More than 80 Million Doses of Polio Vaccines

Cuba has supplied near 85 million doses of polio vaccines since February 26, 1962,being the first country in Latin America to eliminate the disease by the immunization and later by the reactivation of the vaccine, free of charge, to children under three.
 
Marlén Valcárcel, director of the National Immunization Program of the Public Health Ministry, said the vaccine program had a novelty in January this year with the incorporation of the vaccine program of the injectable inactivated vaccine for polio viruses.
 

Obama Acknowledges Solidarity of Internationalist Cuban Doctors

President of the United States, Barack Obama, today praised the Cuban internationalist doctors, who assist, in solidarity, disadvantaged population segments in dozens of countries around the world.
 
We have to recognize the relief that Cuban doctors provide to thousands of poor in the world, to those suffering, Obama said in a speech to representatives of various organizations of Cuban civil society, in the Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso.
 

Presidents of Cuba and the U.S. Hold Official Talks in Havana

President Raúl Castro held talks on Monday with his U.S. counterpart, President Barack Obama, who is on an official visit here –the first by an acting U.S. president to Cuba over the past 88 years.
 
The closed-door meeting between Raúl and Obama took place after the official welcoming ceremony.
 
After the talks, the two leader are scheduled to offer statements to the accredited press.
 

Foreign Ministers of Cuba and the U.S. Hold Official Talks in Havana

Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez met Monday morning in Havana with his U.S. counterpart, Secretary of State John Kerry, who is here in Havana as part of the accompanying delegation of U.S. President Barack Obama.

US President to Arrive in Cuba on Sunday for Official Visit

The president of the United States, Barack Obama, will arrive in Havana in the afternoon of Sunday, March 20, to pay an official visit, the Cuban Foreign Ministry confirmed today.
According to the Foreign Ministry, during his stay here, Obama will hold official talks with Cuban President Raul Castro, and will participate in other events.
 
The son of a Kenyan father and a mother from Kansas, President Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961.

Canadian Solidarity Groups Urge End of Cuban Blockade

Canadian solidarity groups today demanded an end to the blockade to Cuba and the return of the illegally occupied Cuban territory of the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo.
"Prior to the visit of President, Barack Obama, to Havana, let's unite around the world to make clear our call for an immediate end to the cruel Washington blockade against the Cuban people and the return of the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo to Cuba," their statement said.
