Congresso do Partido Comunista de Cuba aborda temas transcendentais

Os participantes do 7º Congresso do Partido Comunista de Cuba, em Havana, abordam em sessão plenária os ditames das comissões sobre temas transcendentais, entre eles a conceitualização do modelo econômico e social socialista e o plano nacional de desenvolvimento até 2030.
 
Também, a aplicação das diretrizes e sua atualização até 2021, entre outros assuntos. Amanhã será apresentado o novo Comitê Central da organização política.

President Raúl Castro Addresses Opening Session of 7th Congress of Cuban Communist Party

President Raúl Castro addressed Saturday's opening session of the 7th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party.
 
Raúl Castro, who is also the Party's First Secretary, presented a report on the work of the political organization, a document that reviews the country's economic performance since the previous congress, the sixth such gathering, held in 2011.
 
The 7th congress is being attended by some 1000 delegates, party members representing all of Cuba's social, labor and economic sectors, and 280 guests.

Student Meeting Concludes with Africa-Cuba Solidarity Statement

The "Second International Student Friendship Meeting / Africa-Cuba" concluded Tuesday here in Havana with a Final Declaration.  More than 100 representatives from 23 nations took part in the meeting at the Julio Antonio Mella International Camp.  They called for an end to the U.S. blockade of Cuba and the return of territory illegally occupied at Guantanamo.
 
At the meeting of African student activists, participants expressed their rejection of destabilizing actions that countries like Venezuela, Brazil and Argentina are currently suffering.

Landing of Martí and Gómez commemorated

Playita de Cajobabo, Guantána­mo.— Young people from the municipality of Imías reenacted the landing of José Martí, Máxi­mo Gómez and other expeditionaries returning from exile to participate in the Cuban War of Independence which began on February 24, 1895.
 
Also commemorated during the act was the 21st anniversary of the tribute by Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro to Cuba’s national hero and other patriots at the site on Cajobabo beach, on the 100th anniversary of the historic event.

South Africa Highlights Cuba Collaboration in Public Health

South Africa lacks about 20,000 health specialists in the public sector, shortage it tries to counteract through the contribution of the medical cooperation program with Cuba.
An article in the Sowetan newspaper quoted Professor Yusuf Veriava, from the ministerial committee of academic review of medical collaboration Nelson Mandela-Fidel Castro, who explained that through the agreement 'are sent South Africans to Cuba for medical training'.
 

Fidel Castro pays tribute to Vilma Espín

Cuban leader Fidel Castro attended an event honoring revolutionary heroine Vilma Espín, yesterday April 7, according to a Cuba television report.
 
He visited the Vilma Espín educational center located in the Havana municipality of Playa, where, along with preschool and elementary students and teachers, he participated in a tribute to the founder of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), held on the 86th anniversary of Vilma’s birth.
 

Cuban Vice President Welcomes Minister-President of Flemish Region of Belgium

Cuba's Vice President Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz welcomed Tuesday in Havana the Minister-President of the Flemish Region of Belgium, Geert Bourgeois who is on a working visit to the island.
 
Both officials ratified the positive state of relations between Cuba and Belgium in particular the Flemish region.
 
Both sides highlighted the traditional cooperation ties between Cuba and the Flemish region especially in higher education and expressed their commitment in strengthening economic-commercial ties.
 

Argentinian Friends of Cuba Welcome Ramon Labañino

The members of the Argentinian Committee for the Release of the Cuban Five welcome today here Ramon Labañino, one of the five Cubans who were held in U.S. prisons for fighting terrorism.
Labañino arrives in Buenos Aires today from Montevideo, Uruguay, for his first visit to this country. His aim is to exchange with the Argentine movement of friendship with the island as an example of gratitude for the support they gave to him and the tenacious demand for the release of the Cuban Five.
