World Pacifists to Meet in Guantanamo

More than 200 worldwide pacifists will meet in the eastern Cuban province of Guantanamo on Nov. 20 and 21, to hold the 4th International Seminar on Peace and Abolition of Foreign Military Bases.
 
One of the objectives of the meeting is to promote the exchange of experiences on the consequences of those military facilities, the president of the Cuban Movement for Peace and Sovereignty of Peoples, Silvio Platero, said.
 

WFDY General Assembly Concludes in Cuba

The 19th General Assembly of the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) will conclude today in this capital, after some days of debates in the presence of about 150 representatives of 80 youth groups from 51 countries.
 
According to the official agenda of activities today, the closing ceremony of this event will take place, including the reading of the Final Declaration of the General Assembly of WFDY.
 
The so-called Festival of Nationalities will be also carried out, including a concert under the slogan "Youth united for peace."

Cuban President Meets Leaders of Chilean Progressive Party

Cuban President, Raul Castro, met with top leaders of Chile''s Progressive Party, Marco Enríquez-Ominami and Pedro Abarca, occasion in which they discussed the positive ties between both countries, it was officially reported today.
 

Cuban Vice President Attends Independence Celebrations in Angola

Cuban Council of State vice president, Salvador Valdes Mesa, arrived in Angola to participate in the celebration on occasion of the 40th anniversary of the independence of the African country.
 
According to the official agenda, Valdes Mesa will be received today by Angolas National Assembly President, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, and then will attend the opening of the new premises of the Angolan Parliament.
 

Cuba, USA Analyze New Steps of Bilateral Approach

The second meeting of the Cuba-United States Bilateral Commission to move towards the normalization of relations is taking place in this capital, aimed at defining the new steps of the rapprochement that began in December 2014.
 
The meeting reviews the issues agreed on September 11in Havana, where the mechanism founded after the restoration of diplomatic ties between the two countries met for the first time.
 

Cuba and the U.S. Discuss Security Cooperation in Washington

Cuba and the United States are holding a joint meeting on law enforcement with the objective of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the area of security, according to the Cuban Foreign Ministry.
 
In late October, the Deputy Secretary of U.S. Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas visited Cuba and according to U.S. authorities, the official met his agenda in a positive environment focusing on bilateral cooperation on law enforcement. Mayorkas also addressed with Cuban officials new ways of collaboration in the sector.
 

Great Social Convergence Embraces Peace in Colombia

Colombian indigenous people, Afro-descendants,countryside workers, students, workers and religious people are boosting today the creation of a social space for for peace to favor discussions to support the Government-insurgency talks and build a scene for the easing of tension, starting in communities.
 
More than 300 associations in the country support the project aimed to build that space for national dialogue between the civil society and the institutional and economic powers.
 

French Minister of Foreign Trade to Attend Cuban Fair

The Secretary of Foreign Trade of France, Matthias Fekl, kicks off today a two-day visit to Cuba on occasion of the 33rd International Fair of Havana, Fihav 2015.
 
Accompanied by a delegation of business people, Fekl is scheduled to meet with several officials of the Cuban government, according to a communique released by the Foreign Ministry of France.
 
He is also scheduled to officially open the French pavilion at Fihav and to visit the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, in Havana.
 

Cuba Considers Mexican Investment Projects

Cuba's First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Antonio Carricarte, said that more than 12 Mexican investment projects are being considered by Cuban authorities with positive results.
 
Speaking at Havana's International Trade Fair, the Cuban official said the investment proposals include projects in different Cuban territories, including the Mariel Special Development Zone, the first of its kind on the island.
 

Angolan Delegation to Attend Ceremony on 40th Anniversary of Cuba's 'Operation Carlota'

Angola's Minister for War Combatants and Veterans, Cándido Pereira, is here in Cuba to attend activities on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Cuba's 'Operation Carlota,' which was decisive to consolidate the independence of Angola on November 11th, 1975 and Namibia's independence in 1990.
 
A news note issued by the ministry in Luanda said Minister Pereira will attend all commemorative events here in Cuba, representing Angolan President Eduardo dos Santos.
