Cuba demands objectivity from human rights mechanism

The Cuban ambassador to the UN in Geneva, Juan Antonio Quintanilla, rejected at the Human Rights Council the bias and the use of unconfirmed sources in the mechanisms and special procedures to address the topic.
 
In the continuation of the activitities of the 51st Sesion of the Council, the diplomat intervened in an interactive dialogue with the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, in which he insisted on the need for objective action and without preconceived results.
 

Computerization in Cuba generates more services to the population

The Tax Payment Facilitation Office (OFA) today favors the execution of procedures virtually for the population, a fact that constitutes an achievement in the computerization process in Cuba.
 
One of the officials responsible for the OFA, Eugenio Fernando Acosta, told Prensa Latina that there are already 50 services that even include electronic commerce.
 
Through the digital self-service stations, people express complaints, opinions and suggestions, while they can contract different services with local and central authorities, he pointed out.

Cuba prepares dynamic test for a referendum on Family Code

Cuba on Friday prepares the dynamic test for the referendum on the Family Code, a vote that will define the total validity of the law approved by the National People's Power Assembly (Parliament) in July.
 
National Electoral Council president Alina Balseiro explained on television that all systems that should work on September 25, when the popular vote will take place, will be checked on September 18.
 

Cuba to submit the resolution against the blockade to the UN General Assembly in November

The United Nations General Assembly will again consider the draft resolution calling for an end to the U.S. blockade of Cuba.
 
The island's Foreign Relations minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, announced in a tweet Thursday that for the 30th time, the top UN body will discuss the text on November 2 and 3.
 
In a video that accompanied the announcement, the Cuban foreign minister recalled that the government of that country persists in ignoring the claim of the international community and has tightened the blockade to unprecedented levels.

Cuba open to dialogue with the United States said Cuban ambassador

Cuba is more than willing to sit down and open a dialogue with the United States to foster mutually beneficial ties, Ambassador Pedro Luis Pedroso said during a conference today.

Díaz-Canel meets with governors

Priority issues in Cuba were discussed on Monday at a meeting headed by President Miguel Díaz-Canel with the governors of all the country's provinces.
 
At the Palace of the Revolution meeting, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero discussed the upcoming referendum on September 25, in which electors will vote for the approval or rejection of the Family Code, a law considered of extraordinary importance for the development of society.

As reported by the Procuba site on Twitter, the head of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment represented the Caribbean island state in the event's first edition, held in Barbados from September 1-3.
