Cuban medical brigade arrives in Azerbaijan today

A contingent of 115 health specialists from the Cuban medical brigade Henry Reeve arrives today in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, where they will be received by authorities from the Azeri Ministries of Health and Emergency Situations.
 
Dalsy Torres, head of the contingent sent to this nation to cooperate in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, said that there are 67 men and 49 women, of which 57 are doctors and 55 are graduates, including 50 in nursing, in addition to an official from the Foreign Ministry.
 

Cuba denounces impact of blockade on fight against COVID-19 at UNESCO

The permanent representative of Cuba to UNESCO, Yahima Esquivel, denounced in a forum of the organization the effects of the U.S. blockade on the efforts of the Caribbean nation to confront the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Speaking at the Executive Council of the multilateral body, she pointed out that at a time when countries should put solidarity, cooperation and dialogue before differences and political conflicts, as the Director General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay has demanded, Washington does the opposite.
 

Cuban Interreligious Platform repudiates hostile U.S. actions

The Interreligious Platform of Cuba has released a statement repudiating the most recent hostile actions of the United States against our country as well as Washington's blockade of the island.
 
The religious movement, which includes the seven religions established across the country, expressed its indignation of the "unjust" inclusion of Cuba on the list of countries that "do not cooperate with anti-terrorist efforts" shortly after the attack on its embassy in Washington, DC.
 

Cuban official recalls first medical brigade's arrival in Algeria

Cuban ambassador to Algeria Armando Vergara recalled this Friday, the arrival in this country of the first Cuban medical brigade on an internationalist mission on May 23, 1963.
 
In an interview published by El Moudjahid newspaper, the diplomat noted that history 'records unforgettable times of friendship and solidarity' between the historic leaders of the Cuban and Algerian Revolution, respectively.

Puerto Rico supports Nobel Peace Prize' to Cuban doctors

The Pro-Human Rights Committee in Puerto Rico has joined the international demands to nominate the 'Henry Reeve' medical brigade for the Nobel Peace Prize.
 
The Committee's spokesman Eduardo Villanueva Muñoz stated on Thursday that the Puerto Rican organization, which fights to preserve human rights in the country, unanimously decided to support the initiative by the International Committee for Peace, Justice and Dignity to the Peoples to support the nomination to the Cuban medical brigade.

In statements to Prensa Latina, Rose-Marie Lou, in charge of policy for the Cuba Linda association, that requested this recognition for the island's health professionals, pointed out that other groups, including "France-Cuba" and "Cuba Cooperation France" had already joined.
