Cuban ambassador to the DPRK presents credentials

The new Cuban ambassador to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Eduardo Luis Correa, presented his credentials to the president of the Supreme People's Assembly, Choe Ryong Hae.
 
The diplomat also conveyed a greeting from the Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel, to the general secretary of the Labor Party and president of the State Affairs Committee of the DPRK, Kim Jong Un.
 

Cuban president calls to confront anything that deviates from the Revolution

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel called on Monday, at the first meeting of the Council of Ministers of 2024, to confront everything that departs from the spirit of the Revolution in Cuban society.
 
The meeting was informed of several political processes that will be developed during the coming months to accompany the implementation of the Government's Projections to correct distortions and boost the economy, reported the Presidency.
 

Foreign Minister of the Republic of Seychelles visits Cuba

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism of the Republic of Seychelles, Louis Sylvestre Radegonde, arrived in Cuba to complete an official visit.
 
As part of the program, the minister will hold official conversations with his Cuban counterpart, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodríguez, and will be received by other authorities of the country.
 
Cuba and Seychelles maintain close collaboration in the training of human resources, especially in medicine.
 

PARLATINO ratifies Latin America and the Caribbean as a Peace Zone

A statement by the Board of Directors of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (PARLATINO), chaired by Cuban legislator Rolando Gonzalez Aparicio, recalls this condition was approved on January 28 and 29, 2014 in Havana, during the 2nd ECLAC Summit.
 
That forum of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (ECLAC), a comprehensive mechanism created in 2011, reaffirmed the purposes and principles enshrined within the Charter of the United Nations and International Law.
 

Guterres heeds ICJ ruling and insists on a ceasefire

On a press release disclosed here, Guterres recalled that the Court’s decisions are binding spurring all parties to duly comply with in accordance with the Charter and the Statute of the Court.
 
Meanwhile, Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for the UNSG reaffirmed the UN position to call for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire.
 
“The Court is a pillar of the UN system, an important organ. The Secretary General firmly believes that its decisions must be respected as they are legally binding,” Dujarric told at a press conference.

Cuba participates in ECLAC in a meeting of Ministers of Education

The Cuban Minister of Education, Naima Trujillo, highlighted the importance of the extraordinary meeting of heads of the sector, in Santiago de Chile, where the challenges for the reactivation of education after Covid-19 are analyzed.
 
Trujillo commented that the meeting is an opportunity for the exchange of experiences not only associated with post-pandemic recovery, but also with the educational transformation of the future due to its importance for the development and sustainability of humanity.
 

Cuba and Russia strengthen relations as strategic allies

The Cuban ambassador to Russia, Julio Garmendía, highlighted that the ties between both nations today are strategic allies on the bilateral and international level.
 
In his opening speech at the reception on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, Garmendía recounted the evolution of national historiography from January 1959 to the present.
 

Delegates from 20 countries in the European forum of solidarity with Cuba

More than 150 delegates from 20 countries will participate next week in the Europe for Cuba channel’s second international meeting of solidarity with the island and condemnation of the US blockade.
 
Based in the northern Spanish city of Bilbao, in the Basque Country, the forum will meet from January 26 to 28, with the confirmed presence of parliamentarians, trade unionists, intellectuals, filmmakers, journalists and representatives of solidarity associations from Europe and other continents, particularly from America.
 

Palestinian used as human shield during Israeli raid on West Bank town

Mobile phone shop owner Baha Abu Ras provided the information to Reuters on Monday.  He gave the agency wvideo footage of three Israeli troopers forcing him to walk in front of them at gunpoint during a raid on the town of Dura near the city of al-Khalil (Hebron).
 
"He (the first trooper) told me that he will use me as a human shield...," Abu Ras said, adding that the trooper then told him, "'You will walk in front of me.'"
 

Díaz-Canel describes EEC visit to Cuba as significant

In his account on the social network X, the dignitary said that it was a good meeting at the Palace of the Revolution with the Russian minister, to whom he ratified the priority for Cuba to continue consolidating relations with that important bloc of countries.
 
 
During their talks, Diaz-Canel valued as very successful the Third Meeting of the Joint Commission between the EEC and Cuba, which took place on Monday, headed by the Caribbean side by Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, deputy prime minister and head of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment.
