Never to be forgotten pain

This is the work of our country confronting imperialist aggression. Here is U.S. malice, and on the other hand, the heroism and victory of an entire people. With these words Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, Political Bureau member and first vice president of the Councils of State and Ministers, described the Memorial de una Denuncia, during the inauguration of the museum devoted to Cuba's resistance, which took place on the 91st anniversary of Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro's birth.

Fidel present in Santiago de Cuba and Birán

Thousands of residents of Santiago celebrated the 91st anniversary of the birth of Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro Ruz with an extensive program of activities, including a tribute at the stone monument that guards his ashes in the Santa Ifigenia cemetery.

In the early morning of August 13, the Cuban and the July 26 Movement flags, measuring five by ten meters, the biggest in the territory, were raised on 25 meter flag poles in the heights of Puerto de Boniato, from where Fidel spoke to the people on his first election as a deputy to the Cuban Parliament.

Fidel and his special focus on culture

Fidel placed particular emphasis on the development of Cuban culture from the very first, intense years of the Revolution. He is closely linked to the foundation of the most important and renowned cultural institutions of the island.

They say that poets are visionaries, a statement many times proven. The life and work of the historic leader of the Revolution has illustrated this. Take, for example, the poem that Miguel Barnet dedicated to him:

Fidel

It is true that poets

capture life’s moments

Soldier of ideas

It is unquestionable that Fidel is incarnated in the hearts of millions of Cubans and admirers throughout the world.

We evoke him dressed in his customary olive green uniform with its epaulets of Comandante en Jefe, with his upright gait, friendly manner, inquisitive gaze; and the deep anti-imperialist convictions he shared with Martí; his iron will to overcome the hardest blows, his wisdom… and above all his infinite love for humanity, for the poor, to whom he dedicated his entire life.

“Fidel is wherever work is undertaken; spiritually Fidel is wherever the Revolution advances. Fidel is wherever an intrigue is destroyed, wherever a Cuban is working honestly, wherever a Cuban, whoever he may be, finds himself doing good, wherever a Cuban, whoever he may be, is defending the Revolution, Fidel will be there.”

Cienfuegos, September 5, 1959

Dialogue among youth, with Fidel always in mind

Faithful to the legacy of Fidel Castro, young people in Pinar del Río are discussing current challenges facing the world's population and the conquests of the Revolution, while reiterating their pride as Cubans, as part of the Provincial Festival of Youth, August 7-8.

Spirited delegates attending the event met in different venues in the city and reaffirmed their commitment to continue perfecting socialism.
