Cuba Denounced the US Blockade as an Obstacle for Development

Cuba denounced at the United Nations in Geneva that the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against the island is the main obstacle to the right to development of the people.
 
During a speech at the 19th Period of Sessions of the Intergovernmental Working Group on the right to development, Cuban representative, Pablo Berti said that the blockade continues to be applied against the island, inflicting damages and scarcity to the population and is an obstacle to the development of our economy.
 

Miguel Díaz-Canel receives Bolivian President Evo Morales

The President of Cuba's Councils of State and Ministers, today April 23, received Bolivian President Evo Morales Ayma, who is on an official visit to the country.
 
In statements to the press, Morales congratulated Cuba's new head of state and said he was happy to accompany Diaz-Canel during the important era the nation is living.
 
He stressed that he came to plan with Díaz-Canel and develop an agenda to continue the legacy of Comadante en Jefe Fidel Castro Ruz, adding that commercial and integration agreements are being discussed.

First of May International Brigade arrives in Cuba

The First of May Solidarity with Cuba Brigade arrived Monday in Havana to participate in activities for International Workers' Day.
 
The members of the Caravan, from 32 countries, will also take part in agricultural work, meet with union leaders and workers, and visit educational, historical and cultural centers in the provinces of Havana, Villa Clara, Camagüey and Artemisa.
 

Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez elected Cuba's New President

Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez was elected President of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, during Wednesday's second and final constitutive session of the IX Legislature of the National Assembly of People's Power or Cuban Parliament.
 
Belonging to the generation born after the triumph of the Revolution, Miguel Díaz-Canel – an Electronic Engineer with a master's degree in management- has been a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party since 2003.

I have not come to speak about Cuba. I do not come into the heart of this Assembly to air a denunciation about the aggressions our small but dignified country has suffered for 20 years. Nor do I come with unnecessary adjectives to wound our powerful neighbors here in their own house.We bring the mandate of the Sixth Conference of the Heads of State or Government of the Non-Aligned Movement, to present to the United Nations the outcome of their deliberations and the positions derived from them.
