On Thursday, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel called for unity among nations of the South, upon assuming the pro-tempore presidency of the G77+China.
In a video message at the official ceremony, the Cuban leader urged to take pressing actions to overcome obstacles to the people´s real progress. Unity is an imperative today and the greatest of all emergencies, Díaz-Canel stressed.
Cuba will assume the pro tempore presidency of the G77 + China, the largest and most diverse group in the multilateral arena, with 134 member states, representing two-thirds of the members of the United Nations system and 80% of the world's population.
