At UN, Cuba Denounces Impact of Blockade on HIV/AIDS

Cuban legislator and sexologist, Mariela Castro, denounced here the impact of the U.S.-imposed economic, commercial and financial blockade to the island in its efforts to prevent and confront HIV/AIDS.
 
In an interview with Prensa Latina, the director of the National Sex Education Center in Cuba stated that the current siege for more than 50 years increases and hinders the Caribbean nation's actions against the epidemic.
 

Bernard Weber, President of New7Wonders, Visits Cuba

As part of the celebrations for the formalization of Havana as a Wonder City of the Modern World, the president and founder of New7Wonders, the entity that controlled vote for this purpose, is visiting Cuba.
 
Swiss-born Canadian Bernard Weber has had a varied career as a filmmaker, museum curator, aviator and explorer. Fluent in five languages, he has spent most of his life traveling the world.
 

Raúl bids Venezuelan President farewell

Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, President of Cuba's Councils of State and Ministers, yesterday evening June 6, at José Martí International Airport, bid farewell to Nicolás Maduro, President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, who participated in the 7th Association of Caribbean States Summit held in Havana.
 
Also approaching the airplane's stairway with the Venezuelan leader were First Vice-President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla.
 

Havana Hosts Regional Workshop for Women with Disabilities

Representatives from 12 Latin America and Caribbean countries are participating in the First Regional Seminar-Workshop of Women Leaders with Disabilities, starting today and terminating on Friday in Havana
 
The event will help develop tools for the empowerment of women with disabilities and programs to defend their right to equality.
 
Under discussion is the leadership of women with disabilities and the violence and discrimination to which they may be subject.
 

Raul Castro Meets Presidents of Haiti, Guyana, Jamaica and Suriname

President Raul Castro has met the provisional President of Haiti, Jocelerme Privert; Guyanese President, David Granger; Suriname''s Desire Delano Bouterse, and the Prime Minister of Jamaica, Andrew Holness, in Havana.
 
The Cuban head of State held talks on Sunday with the leaders of these Caribbean nations as they participated in the 7th Summit of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), which recently concluded in Havana, national television reported.
 

Cuba and Syria Coincide in Increasing Cooperation

The Syrian Information Minister Omran al Zoubi had a dialogue with the Cuban Ambassador here, Rogelio Santana, and both coincided in working for incerasing the relations between Cuba and Syria, in different fields.
 
During the meeting, both parts highlighted the links of brotherhood and solidarity between these two nations, and the identification of criteria in different international forums.

Cuban First Vice President Pays Tribute to Hiroshima Victims

Cuban First Vice President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel, traveled today the Japanese city of Hiroshima, once the site of the first atomic bombing in history, by the U.S. Army.
 
     
 
Diaz-Canel, on an official visit in this nation, will visit the Atomic Bomb Museum along with Deputy Foreign Minister, Rogelio Sierra, Cuba's ambassador to Japan, Marcos Rodriguez Costa, and other members of his accompanying delegation.
 

Raúl receives Belgian Foreign Minister

Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, yesterday May 30, received the honorable Didier Reynders, Belgian deputy prime minister and minister of Foreign and European Affairs, who is making an official visit to Cuba.
 
During the cordial meeting, the two leaders discussed progress in bilateral relations and the potential for their further development. Likewise addressed was the improvement of ties between Cuba and the European Union, to which Belgium made a constructive contribution.
 

Cuba and Vietnam Update Collaboration
