World Organization Demands Obama to Free Cuban Five

The Women's International Democratic Federation (WIDF) called here on U.S. President Barack Obama to release five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in U.S. prisons for over 13 years.

Women from 23 countries meeting in the Portuguese city of Almada, Setubal district, sent a letter to the U.S. president demanding the immediate release of Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labanino, Antonio Guerrero and Rene Gonzalez.

The WIDF, which is comprised of hundreds of groups and expresses the voice and will of thousands of women worldwide, demanded this humanitarian gesture from Obama, in correspondence with the Nobel Peace Prize he holds.

Founded in 1945, the international organization, which is preparing its 15th Congress in Portugal, scheduled from April 8 to 12 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, dedicated this weekend to express solidarity with Cuba and Palestine.
