Upcoming Actions in Solidarity with the Cuban Five
The Movement against Racism and for Friendship with the Peoples has convened an evening in Paris in solidarity with political prisoners in the United States, including the five Cuban anti- terrorist fighters.
In its call, for April 1st, the French non-governmental organization includes Fernando Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero and Rene Gonzalez (known as The Five due to the international campaign for their release from prison), who're serving long harsh
sentences in US jails.
The Five have been unjustly imprisoned for over a decade, after an illegal trial carried out in Miami, Granma newspaper reports.
These patriots warned the Cuban population on violent plans by Florida- based anti-terrorist groups, whose criminal acts have caused the death 3,500 people and have left over 2,000 wounded or handicapped from 1959 to date.
The call of the French NGO also includes renowned African-American activist and journalist Mumia Abu Jamal, locked up in a maximum security prison in Greene, Pennsylvania, as well as American Indian leader Leonard Peltier.
