UN Representative in Cuba Stresses Youth Tribute to Development
Youth have much to contribute to the development of the planet, so knowing in depth the problems of this sector in the world is valuable, UN Resident Coordinator in Cuba Barbara Pesce Monteiro said today.
In an exclusive interview with Prensa Latina, the specialist highlighted the importance of the International Congress of Researchers on Youth, being held in the Havana's Conference Center, from March 4 to 8.
Pesce Monteiro stated that this age group is essential as part of social life, so listening to, engaging and involving them in the construction of the development is essential.
Furthermore, the UNESCO representative stated that the United Nations programs include actions to work towards youth in order to engage them in different aspects such as education and art.
The Youth Congress continues today sessions focused on symposia and panels on issues such as the experiences of intervention and social transformation, the sexuality of children and young people, as well as participation scenarios.
Participants in the opening session of the meeting held yesterday began activities with a posthumous tribute to the President of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, who died on Tuesday, March 5, in Caracas.
