Trinidad and Tobagos Demands Cuban Five Release

The Petroleum Workers Union of Trinidad and Tobago (OTWU), demanded the release of five Cubans imprisoned in the U.S. and demanded the end of the US economic blockade against the island.

During a discussion chaired by Joaquin Lacke, from the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), union members expressed their support for the cause of the Five, as they are known internationally for Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero and Fernando Gonzalez.

At the meeting, Lacke thanked support for Cuba's solidarity movements in the world and denounced the US blockade against the island.

The OWTU is one of the strongest and prestigious unions of Trinidad and Tobago for its permanent protection of workers rights.

The meeting took place when there are over 12 years of imprisonment of five Cubans who are serving long sentences for warning of terrorist actions against their country perpetrated by anti-Cuban groups settled in the United States.
