Spanish Port Authority Interested in Projects in Cuba
The Barcelona Port Authority reported today that it was interested in participating in developing logistical projects in Cuba.
According to a statement, the offer was made during a recent meeting with Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Ileana Nuñez, on her visit to port facilities in Barcelona.
Nuñez traveled to Spain to present the new features of her country's investment policy and the Mariel Development Zone, located in Cuba's western region.
Representatives of the Catalan port also shared access to communications channels for the Barcelona port community, with the Cuban delegation, to disseminate news about the new Mariel zone to interested companies.
On June 26, representatives of more than one hundred Spanish companies received an update in Madrid on the facilities for investment in Cuba.
Nuñez recalled that Spain is among Cuba's top investors and trade partners, basically with small and medium companies, but the objective of her institution today is to bring major Spanish companies to the Cuban market.
