Solidarity Groups Slams German Interference in Cuba Affairs
Members of the Cuba Solidarity Network in Germany condemned German government interference in Cuban internal politics.
In a letter addressed to the Secretary of State of the German Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Werner Hoyer, released by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, the solidarity group described the Germany stance as incomprehensible and unjustified, incapable of taking into consideration Cuban reports about the death of citizen Juan Wilfredo Soto.
On May 10, Hoyer announced in a press release the German stance about that event in Cuba.
The solidarity group letter said that the Cuban reports "clearly emphasize through allegations both by relatives and the physician who treated him that Soto death was caused by different diseases and in any way by external agents."
"With that press release, you (Hoyer) are also included, whether you like it or not, in a new campaign of discredit against the Caribbean nation that comes from Cuban exile forces based in the U.S. territory of Miami," the group letter said.
The Cuban government recently reported a new slander campaign against the Revolution, this time over the May 8 death of Cuban citizen Juan Wilfredo Soto from acute pancreatitis at the Arnaldo Milian Castro Hospital in Santa Clara.
The German solidarity group also rejected the Washington-imposed economic, trade and financial blockade on the island for almost 50 years, and questioned the passive attitude of the current German government in opposing that policy, which mainly affects the Cuban people.
