Solidarity with The Five is Permanent, Cuba's Friends in Seychelles
The Seychelles-Cuba Friendship Association (SECUFA) said that its identification with the cause of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in the United States since 1998 will remain unchanged until they return home.
After 14 years of their unjust imprisonment, the U.S. government remains deaf to the call made by international organizations, Nobel prizewinners, and hundreds of groups like ours, SECUFA said in a release.
Monitoring activities by groups responsible for countless actions of terrorism against Cuba made a Florida court imposed sentences ranging from two life terms to 13 years in prison for Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, and Rene Gonzalez.
The latter already completed his prison term on October 7, 2011, but he was forced to remain in Miami for three years under supervised release, implying a great risk to his life, given to the prevailing anti-Cuban atmosphere in that southern U.S. city.
Our solidarity with the Cuban Five, as they are known internationally, will never cease, SECUFA said when reiterating its adherence to the international movement of solidarity with the Cuban Five and the willingness to denounce online the injustice committed against them.
We will not allow that the wall of silence put up by the U.S. government on that case continues, and we are and will be with the Cuban people in the campaign for the release of the Cuban Five, the group said.
