Solidarity Fast for Cuban Five in Mexico
A 24-hour fast demanding the release of five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in U.S. prisons begins on Saturday in front of the embassy of that northern nation in Mexico.
The fast is part of a series of activities carried out by the Mexican Movement of Solidarity with Cuba during the international campaign in support of the cause of those patriots.
Fernando Gonzalez, Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Gerardo Hernandez and Ramon Labañino, who monitored actions planned by terrorist groups in the United States, were detained and are currently serving unjust and long prison sentences.
Also including is a forum about the Five convened by the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, the Cuban embassy, the Autonomous University of Mexico, and the Mexican Movement of Solidarity with Cuba.
In the forum, Cuban ambassador Manuel Aguilera talked of the solidarity carried out in Mexico with the Five, as they are universally known, expressed by lawmakers, figures and representatives from popular sectors.
