SELA, UCI for LatAm Integration

Director of the Information and Knowledge Network of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), Saadia Sanchez noted the importance of an agreement to be signed with the University of Information Sciences in Cuba.

Melchor Gil and ambassador Jose Rivera will sign the agreement that is very important for the region, they told reporters.

Gil commented that several problems in the formation of talent in Latin America and the Caribbean are related to the incorporation and appropriation of information technologies and communication of our realities.

Within the framework of a Workshop on Management of Digital Educational Contents for the popularization of Science and Technology, Sanchez discussed developing these talents and said that the UCI assumes this purpose in the formation of 10,000 professionals.

Referring to the importance of the agreement he noted that the Permanent Secretary of SELA with 27 member states will promote jointly with the UCI events and forums to contribute to regional integration.

Referring to the workshop SELA official indicated that this institution is convinced that regional integration is strategic for placing the continent in the international arena within the context of globalization and the current financial crisis.

Its importance, she stressed, is to form capabilities in issues of production, creation, design and management of digital contents. These will be created and constructed through information and communication technologies.

Doctor Cosette Castro from the Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology gave a master conference at the inauguration of the event entitled From an Analogical World to a Digital World.
