SELA to Discuss Effects oCapitalist Crisis on Latin America-Caribbean
The impact of the US and European crisis in the economies of the zone will be one of the topics for discussion in the 36th Ordinary Meeting of the Council of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA).
The meeting, to be held from October 19-21 in Caracas, will discuss the impact of that financial situation in the economic growth prospects of the region, with few promising or encouraging predictions, said a report of that entity.
Debates will also take into consideration the challenges that Latin American and the Caribbean will face in the next few years to achieve long-term sustainable economic growth with major progress in the reduction of poverty.
SELA´s Permanent Secretary Jose Rivera presented to the Council the 40th Annual Report of his office, in relation to the activities carried out since the last ordinary meeting.
As a collateral activity, a forum will be held on the strengthening of industrialization and productive integration in the Latin American and Caribbean countries.
