Russian Region Interested in Strengthening Cooperation with Cuba

Authorities from the Russian region of Tula expressed interest today in joint projects with Cuba in medicine and industry, during the visit of a delegation from the island led by Ambassador Emilio Lozada.

Received by the deputy governor and first president of the regional Government, Yuri Andrianov, the visitors and their hosts discussed issues raised during the visit to Cuba of Russia's Health Minister.

The ambassador and his companions also visited the Tulachetmet factory for the production of cast iron and a hospital specialized in care of diabetic patients.

Located 165 kilometers south of Moscow, in the center of European Russia, Tula has a population of more than 500,000 inhabitants and has a metallurgical tradition dating back to 1712, after the discovery of iron ore and coal in this area.
