Raul Castro Receives U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy

President Raul Castro Ruz received Senator Patrick Leahy, Democrat from Vermont, Pro Tempore President of the United States Senate and Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, on his visit to Cuba which concluded today.

Senator Leahy headed a delegation which included Debbie Stabenow, Democrat Senator from Michigan and Chair of the Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee; Sherrod Brown, Democrat Senator from Ohio; Sheldon Whitehouse, Democrat Senator from Rhode Island; Jeff Flake, Republican Senator from Arizona; James McGovern, Democrat Senator from Massachusetts, and Chris Van Hollen, Democrat Representative from Maryland, among others.

Subjects of mutual interest to both countries were discussed at the meeting with the Cuban leader, also attended by Cuba Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez Parilla. Later, Raul Castro engaged in an exchange with the rest of the delegation.

During their stay in this country, the U.S. delegation was also received by Ricardo Alarcon de Quesada, President of the Cuban National Assembly, as well as by Minister Rodriguez Parilla.
