President of Cuba, Raul Castro, today paid tribute in this eastern city to the Venezuelan leader, Hugo Chavez, who died last Tuesday in Caracas.

Raul Castro, placed a flower before the image of the deseaced president, in ceremony at the Revolution Square Antonio Maceo.

Thousands of Santiago de Cuba inhabitants gathered in this city early morning to remembered Hugo Chavez and exprese their solidarity with the Venezuelan people.

The tribute to Chavez is scheduled today in the 15 Cuban provinces between 08:00 and 20:00 local time.
