Raul Castro, Mexican FM to Boost Ties

Cuban President Raul Castro met the Mexican Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa, ratifying their common intention to boost bilateral relations.

Cuban television gave information about the meeting between Raul Castro and the Mexican Foreign Minister, who arrived in Cuba on Friday for an official visit.

Present at the encounter were also the Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez and the Mexican Ambassador in Cuba Enrique Gabriel Jimenes Remus, who also had preliminary official talks, before the 4th Meeting of the Cuba-Mexico Permanent Mechanism of Political Consultation and Information.

The Foreign Minister told it is possible that Mexican President Felipe Calderon visit Cuba during the first quarter 2010.

Espinosa also said Mexico is prepared to receive Honduran constitutional President Manuel Zelaya.

She added that they also talked about the memorandum of understanding signed by the two countries in October 2008.
