Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa extolled here today the life commitment made by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, to the noblest causes in Latin America, the Caribbean and the world.

Speaking at the political-cultural event to pay posthumous tribute to the Cuban revolutionary leader, who passed away 'undefeated; only beaten by the inexorable passage of the years,' Correa highlighted the loyalty that characterized him during his entire life.

He died honoring his name, Fidel: worthy of faith; a faith that was never disappointed and least of all betrayed, he pointed out.

Correa stressed that Fidel Castro will continue living in the faces of the children who go to school, the sick whose lives are saved, the workers who own the fruit of their labor, and his struggle continues in the effort of each idealistic youth who insists on changing the world.

The Ecuadorian president recalled that thanks to Fidel's struggle, in the most unequal region of the world, Cuba emerges as the only country with zero children's malnutrition, the highest life expectancy, 100-percent schooling and no children living on the streets.

Evaluating the success or the failure of Cuba's economic model by making an abstraction of the criminal blockade imposed by the United States for half a century is pure hypocrisy, pointed out Correa, adding that Cuba is affected by a true war from that country.

However, he assured, Fidel and his Revolution have transcended in space and they will transcend in time.

After recalling the concept of Revolution stated by Fidel Castro, Correa noted that thanks to the Cuban leader's efforts, the world learned to grow in the new Latin American man, capable of fighting to build a world of justice and peace.
