Photo Exhibit Opens in Havana to Mark Fidel Castro’s 83rd Birthday Anniversary

The 83rd birthday anniversary of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, was marked with the opening of a photo exhibit at the Hotel Nacional in Havana.

The inauguration of the exhibition, made up of 83 photos of different moments in the life of the revolutionary leader, was attended by the president of the Cuban National Assembly (Parliament), Ricardo Alarcon, who said that “we should congratulate each other for the exceptional fact that the Cuban people have someone who symbolizes their best features.”

Present in the opening of the exhibition was Armando Hart, Director of the National Office for the Study of the Life and Work of Cuban National Hero Jose Marti (Programa Martiano).

Hart sent greetings to Fidel Castro and added that “Fidel is Marti’s best disciple, someone who was able to materialize the National Hero’s dearest ideas in the Cuban Revolution.”

Also attending was Alfredo Guevara, president of Havana’s International Festival of the New Latin American Cinema, and First Deputy Culture Minister Ruben del Valle, among other personalities.

Photos by Osvaldo Salas, Roberto Salas, Liborio Noval, Pablo Caballero and Alex Castro are included in the exhibition along with paintings by Adigio Benitez, Ever Fonseca and Esteban Leyva.
