Paraguayans Ask for Regional Meetings to Free Cuban 5

Ligia Prieto, president of the Paraguayan Committee for the Release of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in U.S. prisons since 1998, said the group is organizing regional events to demand their immediate freedom.

In remarks to Prensa Latina, Prieto spoke out for supporting integrationist organisms such as MERCOSUR, UNASUR and others to advance in that work program, because to end the year without achieving the release of those men is not possible.

Antonio Guerrero, Ramon Labañino, Gerardo Hernandez and Fernando Gonzalez are serving harsh sentences for impeding terrorist aggressions against their country. Rene Gonzalez is under an additional three-year supervised release, after 13 years in prison, for the same reason.

The also former Paraguayan legislator recalled the Five on the occasion of Father´s Day, stating that, in so notable date, those who fight for their release are the sons of those combatants.

Let's ask President Barack Obama that if he pretends to leave any good memory of his administration to the world, he should immediately release them, because he only can do it.
