Over 50 000 Haitians Benefited by Cuban Literacy Method
The Cuban literacy methodology known as “Yes I Can” has been successful in teaching a new group of 214 Haitians how to read and write, which takes the total number to 51 163 nationals of that Caribbean sister nation.
The graduation of the new students, which took place at the homes of the Cuban collaborators in Port au Prince, was attended by Cuban ambassador to Haiti Ricardo Garcia who stressed the successful effort and welcomed the relatives of the graduates.
The simple and moving activity was followed by cultural presentations, while participants read letters of gratefulness to the governments of Cuba and Venezuela and to the Cuban collaborators in Haiti.
