Mirta Rodriguez, mother of one of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in the United States 14 years ago, will talk today at the Deputy Chamber in Dominican Republic about the current situation of those men.

Rodriguez, mother of Antonio Guerrero, is carrying out a visit to this country since August 13, where she has talked in many scenarios the cause of his son and that of Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino and Rene Gonzalez.

Los Five, as they are universally known, were detained on September 12, 1998, when monitoring violent activities by anti-Cuban groups based in the United States.

After a biased and rigged trial, according to recognized jurists worldwide, the Five were convicted to double life sentences plus 15 years in prison.

Rene Gonzalez already completed his prison term on October 7, 2011, but must remain in that northern country under supervised release for three more years.

According to the agenda, the 80-year-old woman will also meet with senators, who in 2010 demanded the release of those Cuban antiterrorist fighters.

The Dominican Campaign of Solidarity with Cuba called yesterday to redouble that struggle to "achieve the cessation of such cruel ignominy."
