Million Cubans at Peace without Borders Concert
More than a million Cubans attended the Peace without Borders Concert held in Revolution Square in Havana. Despite the high temperatures the crowd enjoyed and participated in the 5-hour long concert, while the rest of the world could watch by satellite.
The well known Cuban group Van Van closed the show with a tribute to the late Compay Segundo of the Buena Vista Social Club. They were joined on stage by Colombian singer Juanes, organizer of the event, and many of the artists who performed in this mega concert.
Singing Chan Chan, one of his many hits, they were joined in the singing by the crowd and improvised lyrics which added even more color to the event.
Juanes and Puerto Rican singer Olga Tañon expressed their gratitude to Cuba for this opportunity to stage the 2nd Peace without Borders Concert there, and renewed the plea for peace and love in the world.
