Lula, Chavez Visit Soy Field in Venezuela

Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez and Brazil's Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva are visiting on Friday a soy field in the eastern Anzoategui state, with Brazilian cultivation technology.

Chavez stated at a public rally on Wednesday that both statesmen would be in the soy harvest in the Orinoco's savanna, a joint project aimed at producing food, machinery and technology.

Lula arrived in Caracas on Thursday. The aim of his visit is to boost a strategic alliance with this nation, which registered almost $6 billion in bilateral trade in 2008.

The Sixth Quarterly Meeting between both nations took place in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, in August.

Both governments inked eight agreements on August 20, regarding scientific, technological and industrial development.
