Legislators to Demand Cuban 5 Release Online
Cuban legislators convened for March 18 an online debate to demand the release of five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unfairly imprisoned in the United States since 1998, Granma newspaper reported on Monday.
The parliamentary forum is opened to those who in the world are expressing solidarity with Cuba and our people, the daily stated.
Legislators, artists, workers and students are called to the debate "An injustice that has lasted 12 years," available at foro.cubaminrex.cu on Friday.
The initiative of the International Relations Commission at the Peoples' Power National Assembly (Parliament) is part of efforts for the release of Rene Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, and Fernando Gonzalez.
"Let's join us, legislators and citizens of the world, and fight injustice our five compatriots are suffering in US jails," the note states.
The Cuban Five, as they are universally known, were condemned to harsh sentences ranging from 15 years to double life terms.
