Large Cuban Delegation Attends Spain Tourism Fair Fitur 2016
Cuba is participating with a large delegation in the 36th International Tourism Fair in Spain, Fitur 2016, as reflected in an official report released here today.
The note from the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) in this country, states that this fair, running from January 20 to 24 in Madrid, the Spanish capital, has the attention of everyone on the travel industry.
The Cuban delegation is led by Cuban Tourism Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz.
In turn, representatives from hotel chains Gaviota Group, Cubanacan, Gran Caribe, Islazul, Habaguanex, Melia Hotels, Iberostar, NH, Barcelo, Blau, Blue Diamonds and Accor, are participating.
Executives from receptive agencies Viajes Cubanacan, Cubatur and Gaviotatours, Cuban tour-operator Havanatur and Paradiso, Amistur and Caracol, are also part of that delegation.
This latter mentioned is represented by cigar roller, Jose Castelar Cairo, who holds several Guinness World Records title for the longest Havana cigar of the world. This time, Trinidad city artisan, Daniel Santander Alcantara, will be also present.
As part of Fitur, the 8th Forum of Tourism Leadership Exceltur takes place, in the presence of Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (WTO), Taleb Rifai, and other figures from the sector.
Mintur takes the issue of Cuba, a history of tourism success, and opportunities to a new reality.
The official report states that the Spanish market continues being of great importance for the Cuban tourism, and it achieved last year a growth in its issuance to this country of 39 percent.
The report meant that tourism authorities of this island continue working for a greater product position in Spain, as well as to diversify the offer and modalities to market in this market.
Havana will focus the most attention of those who visit the Cuban stand in Spain, as it will host the biggest event of the local tourism sector, the 36th edition of the International Tourism Fair, Fitcuba, dedicated this time, to Canada, as a guest country and to culture (on May 3 to 7).
Fitur, considered among the most important exhibitions of its kind in the world, opens its doors with a significant presence in Latin America. Opened by Queen Letizia, the fair has this year about 9,500 exhibiting companies from 165 countries and regions of Spain.
