King of Lesotho Arrived in Cuba on Monday

The King of Lesotho, Letsie III, arrived in Cuba Monday afternoon and was welcomed at the Jose Marti International Airport in Havana by Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Marcos Rodriguez.

The African king dedicated his first words to the press upon arriving at the air terminal to the Cuban people. He said he and the delegation accompanying him brought a message of solidarity and friendship and were highly thankful for the cooperation, assistance and collaboration Lesotho has received from Cuba for so many years.

In this second visit to Cuba, King Letsie III will meet with Cuban President Raul Castro, among other activities.

With the purpose of strengthening the historical bonds of friendship existing between both nations since 1979, the distinguished visitor traveled to Cuba for the first time in October of 2007.

Currently, both countries are working to boost cooperation projects in the fields of health and sports.

Lesotho, a small country located in the central region of Africa, is one of the nations supporting the Cuban resolution demanding the end of the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade that was recently presented before the United Nations General Assembly.
