Japanese Medical Tech Firm to Cooperate with Cuba and Latin America
Representatives from the Japanese company Terumo Medical Pranex stressed the vast opportunities and potential for strengthening and developing cooperation with Cuba and Latin America, in cardiology and care for patients with cerebrovascular illnesses.
The company which specializes in medical technologies is among the top companies in the world for research, development, and production of a vast array of medical equipment and instruments, with emphasis in cardiology, including oxygenators, stents, guide wires and other supplies for catheters.
During a visit to that entity, Cuban ambassador to Japan Marcos Rodriguez, engaged in exchanges with executives and received details about many opportunities to expand collaboration with Cuba and other Latin American states in advanced medical technologies.
The diplomat verified in his tour of the facilities the advanced technological development reached by this company, which acquired international renown in 1960 for the development of the mercury thermometer.
In turn, the ambassador explained the progress of the updating of the island social and economic model, and the new Mariel Special Development Zone.
