Intl Chemists Converge in Cuba
More than 200 delegates from 28 countries debate Wednesday in Cuba about new frontiers of chemistry, especially in the development of new materials and technologies based on nano-sciences.
Over 1,000 works, slated in four sessions, will be analyzed, as part of the program of the First Ibero-American Congress of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Chemical Engineering, and the Seventh International Congress of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.
Wednesday's two plenary conferences, the first in charge of Spanish Fernando Albericio about the synthesis and anti-tumor activity of natural compounds from marine source, have been extensively highlighted.
Also expected is the paper by his compatriot Concepcion Rovira, who will talk about molecular electronics, of great importance to create semiconductors and superconductors
Participants in the congress, taking place at the Havana's Conference Center until Friday, will debate on the role of chemistry in the production of food and researchers of new energy and medicine sources.
