International Trade Fair of Havana Opens on Monday

The 26th International Trade Fair of Havana (FIHAV 2008) opens on Monday at the EXPOCUBA exhibition complex in the Cuban capital with the participation of more than 2,000 businesspeople, representing around 450 firms from 56 countries, who will show their products, services and modern technologies.

The largest delegations come from Spain, Canada, China, Italy, Panama and Germany.

A total of 19 official delegations headed by ministers and presidents of chambers of commerce or international institutions will also participate in the event.

Meanwhile, Cuba will be present with products and services of 317 companies from 22 sectors. The basic and food industries will be theones showing more products and services along with other exporting firms from the sector of biotechnology and genetics engineering, for example.

On this occasion, one of the main elements of the fair, which runs through next Saturday, will be a forum organized by the Cuban Ministry for Foreign Investment and Economic Cooperation, whose main topic will be Investment Opportunities in Cuba.
