Hugo Chavez Meets with Fidel, Raul Castro
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez met in this capital with leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro and President Raul Castro.
For five hours, Fidel Castro and Chavez reviewed a number of international issues, the Cuban press reports Thursday.
They particularly addressed the serious threat of nuclear war hanging over humanity.
Chavez acknowledged Fidel Castro's outstanding role in working for universal awareness to prevent a war that would bring terrible consequences for humanity.
The Venezuelan statesman also expressed satisfaction at the Cuban leader's excellent health.
In the meeting, Fidel Castro shared some excerpts from his soon-to-be published book, "La Contraofensiva Estratégica" (The Strategic Counteroffensive).
The book recounts details of the revolutionary war, from the defeat of the offensive by the Fulgencio Batista dictatorship in mid-1958 to the January 1, 1959 triumph.
Chavez later met with Raul Castro, and reviewed the development of fraternal political and economic links.
Raul Castro bid farewell the visitor at Jose Marti international airport.
