Hu Jintao and Raul Castro Meet With Chinese Students in Havana
The presidents of China and Cuba, Hu Jintao and Raul Castro, met Tuesday with students from China who are on a Spanish program at the Tarara school, located in the north-eastern coast of Havana.
Accompanied by Cuba’s First Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, the government leaders made a tour of the school where there are over a thousand Chinese students. They presided over a cultural ceremony that featured performances of the traditions of both nations.
In Cuba, there are more than 2, 000 Chinese people studying. Of them, 1,112 are taking a one-year intensive Spanish course in Tarara, and other 276 are majoring in Spanish Language. The rest is studying Medicine and other subjects in different higher studies centers in the Cuban capital.
Hu Jintao arrived in Havana last Monday for his second official visit to Cuba. Upon arrival at the Jose Marti international airport in Havana, the Chinese President sent his best regards to the Cuban people.
