Holguin to Host Int’l Colloquium on the Cuban Five

Nearly 180 people from 20 countries have confirmed their participation in an international colloquium on the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters, who remain unjustly imprisoned in the United States since 1998, that will take place next November in the eastern city of Holguin.

Amauri Torno Gonzalez, from the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP) in Holguin province, said the event is scheduled for November 19-23 and that delegations will be coming from the United States, Austria, Germany, Canada, France and Puerto Rico, among other countries.

Torno added that the colloquium against terrorism will serve to spread the truth about the case of Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Ramon Labañino and Fernando Gonzalez – internationally known as the Cuban Five – who were arrested in Miami for monitoring anti-Cuba extremist groups that were planning and carrying out terrorist attacks against the Caribbean nation.

Granma newspaper reports that this is the fifth occasion the event is held and that, for the first time, it will include the municipalities of Gibara, Baguanos, Calixto Garcia and Rafael Freyre.
