Great Impact of Resolution on Cuba in Islamic Countries

The overwhelming victory at the United Nations of 188 votes in favor of lifting the U.S. blockade against Cuba has been highly spread today in Egypt and other Middle East countries.

The official IRNA news agency in Tehran echoes some statements by Ramin Mehmanparast, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who was categorical in describing the incident as "a victory for Cuba."

The Iranian television Hispantv also echoes the official congratulation from the Islamic Republic, formulated few hours after knowing the results of the vote at the General Assembly.

In Egypt, the official MENA news agency issued a press release dated in New York, in which reviews the speeches during the session devoted to the examination and discussion of the Resolution "Necessity of ending the U.S. blockade against Cuba," presented by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez.

The Egyptian daily Shorouk in Arabic language retakes the report from the news agency, published in full in the international section.

Al Ahram (The Pyramids), the most influential of Egyptian newspapers with editions in Arabic and English languages, displays information on the subject in its international section, which emphasizes the rising vote in favor, with only three against: the United States, Israel and Palau Island.
