Good Performance of Cuban Wrestlers in Mexico

Cuban wrestlers who participated in the 2010 Pan American Championships in free style in Monterrey, Mexico, arrived the eve reported the Cuban News Agency after winning 14 medals and second place by country.

Gustavo Rolle, coach of Cuban team, explained to AIN that the wrestlers of the Island got 14 medals (10-2-2) and finished second by country preceded by the USA which attended with complete teams.

Cuban free style wrestlers had a perfect performance because the six athletes who take part in the competition got medals, Rolle, who is also member of the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Style, said

Greco-Roman style wrestlers got 4 titles and a wild card, although Olympic and world champion in 120 kg Mijain Lopez could not participate because he had a discomfort in his elbow.

Both teams showed in Mexico high technical level and potentiality although not presenting contestants in all divisions.

The coach said that women also contributed, except Yamilka del Valle, owner of 59 kilos mainland in 2009, who was eliminated, the other three got titles.

The three Cuban Greco-Roman style wrestlers got gold medals and the ticket to the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games next August.
