First Secretary of Cuba Communist Youth Concludes Visit to China

Yuniasky Crespo, first secretary of the Communist Youth Union of Cuba (UJC), today concludes a visit that confirmed the close links with the youth league of this giant from Asia and promoted the exchange with local leaders.

The leader of the UJC, who arrived this Tuesday in Beijing after visiting Vietnam and Laos, was welcomed on Thursday by the Vice President of China, Li Yuanchao, who expressed the hope that the two countries strengthen their long and solid partisan and government relations.

At the meeting held at the Great Hall of the People, Li said that he hopes the two sides learn from each other's experiences of both communist parties and governments, and urged the youth of the two countries to strengthen understanding to continue the traditional bilateral friendship.

Since her arrival to China, Crespo held inteviews with Zhou Li, deputy head of the international department of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and with its host, the first secretary of the Communist Youth League of China (CYL), Qin Yizhi.

The first secetary of the National Committe of the UJC explained to the Chinese Vice President the international campaign promoted by her country for the release of the Cuban Five. Two of them have already returned to Cuba after serving their sentences.

Other activities undertaken by the delegation included the visits to the Center of Studies on Cuba of the Institute of the Academy of Social Sciences in this country, the Youth Club program sponsored by the Beijing municipal committee of the CYL and the headquarters of this body in the capital.

To conclude its stay, the representation of the Cuban Communist Youth this Saturday is doing a cultural tour including visits to the Great Wall and the Tiananmen Square, and they will see a performance of the highly appreciated Chinese acrobatics.
