Fidel Castro Meets with Peace Boat Activists

The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, met on Tuesday with some of the 1,000 passengers aboard the Peace Boat, which was docked in Havana for a visit. 

The meeting at Havana's Conference Center was attended by 620 activists, crew members and other passengers of different ages, countries and professions who are on a three-month, worldwide voyage to promote peace throughout the world. 

Junko Watanabe, a survivor of the U.S. atomic attack on the Japanese city of Nagasaki who is living in Brazil, also took part in the meeting. 

Peace Boat is an international non-governmental and non-profit organization that works to promote peace, human rights, equal and sustainable development and respect for the environment.
