Fidel Castro Inaugurates Educational Complex in Cuba

The historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, opened in this capital the Vilma Espin educational complex, media reported today.

During the opening, Fidel Castro highlighted the efforts and dedication of the construction workers, who "counted from the beginning with the unconditional support of military and civilian workers of the Personal Security Directorate," Granma newspaper said.

Located in adjacent areas to the "Futuro Lechero" dairy at the Havana municipality of Playa, the facility was built in just 11 months by initiative of Fidel Castro, the publication said.

The facility has two blocks that include classrooms from pre-school to sixth grade education, library and computer lab, with a capacity for 140 students, a childcare center for 34 children, sports areas, and a medical post.

Fidel Castro spoke for about two hours with children, teachers, builders, and residents of the community about international current issues, such as climate change, weapons of mass destruction, economic crisis, rise on fuel prices.
