EU Hold Seventh Ministerial Political Dialogue in Cuba
The 7th session of the political dialogue between the European Union (EU) and Cuba is taking place here today presided over by Federica Mogherini, representing the EU, and the island''s Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez.
According to the agenda, the representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy will hold meetings with officials from the Caribbean nation to work out the details of the agreement on 'political dialogue and bilateral cooperation' reached on the 4th of March.
Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister, Abelardo Moreno, stated that the two sides have made significant progresses on agreeing on the issues being discussed and all that remains is that the document be subject to the required political verification.
He explained that the agreement respects the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Cuba.
The agreement, whose main purpose is to strengthen the Cuban relationship with the EU, comes at the conclusion of talks which begun in April 2014.
Mogherini's visit on the 10th and 11th of March coincides with the visit to Cuba of the European Commissioner for Development, Neven Mimica.
