From Ecuador, Cuba congratulates Nicaragua on 41 years of revolution

Cuban Ambassador to Ecuador Rafael Dausa on Sunday congratulated Nicaragua on the 41st anniversary of the triumph of the Sandinista Revolution, which ended decades of dictatorship in that Central American country.

In a message on behalf of the diplomatic mission and, by extension, of the Cuban people, the ambassador said that this feat marked the end of a regime whose actions killed thousands of Nicaraguan citizens.

'We commemorate 41 years of struggle and victories of a combative and worthy people, who have known how to win and grow,' Dausa wrote in the greeting sent to Nicaragua, through the country's ambassador to Ecuador, Franklin Duarte.

The Cuban diplomat pointed out that US imperialism insists on unleashing military actions, sanctions and a real economic war, which, in different formats and scenarios, deeply lacerate not only Nicaragua, but also Venezuela and Cuba, and have caused irreparable human and material damages in those Latin American countries.

These actions go hand in hand with a media campaign to demonize these revolutionary processes, he warned.

Historically, Dausa recalled that Sandino started a national war against the US invader and the submissive governments at the time, with just 29 men and a few rifles, but inspired by a clear thinking valid to this days: 'A people's sovereignty is not debated over, but defended, arms in hand.'
