The vice president of the Council of State and the Council of Ministers of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, highlighted here the friendship relations with the Democratic People''s Republic of Korea (DPRK), the Cuban Embassy here said on Saturday.
 
The source told Prensa Latina that Diaz-Canel, who is visiting Pyongyang, met on Friday at the Mansudae Palace of Congresses with Yang Hyong Sop, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.
 
Yang, who is also the vice president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, thanked Cuba for its unlimited support and solidarity for the just cause of the Korean people, in tune with all revolutionary principles and of camaraderie.
 
Diaz-Canel, in turn, noted that the invincible friendship relations between Cuba and the DPRK, prepared by President Kim Il Sung and Leader Kim Jong Il, along with comrades Fidel Castro Ruz and Raul Castro Ruz, consolidate and develop under the special attention of dear comrade Kim Jong Un.
 
The Cuban vice president thanked Korean officials for their warm sentiment and friendliness expressed to the delegation accompanying him.
 
He underlined that friendship relations between the two countries will be eternal, and stressed that the Cuban people will always be alongside the Korean people.
 
Present at the meeting were, on the Korean side, the president of the Committee on Education and the Korean-Cuba Solidarity Committee, Kim Sung Du, the department deputy director of Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Pak Kun Gwang, and Deputy Foreign Minister Sin Hong Chol, as well as the deputy minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Ri Kwang Gun, and the vice president of the Foreign Cultural Relations Committee, So Ho Won.
 
The meeting was an excellent occasion for both parties to share opinions on the development of friendship relations between the two countries and to analyze matters of common interest.
 
Before the talks, a ceremony was held to welcome the Cuban delegation.
 
During the reception, Yang noted that the Cuban delegation's visit will be a landmark to further develop the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
